9th Street Books and Brews plans to open in April and will be Stephanie Atkinson’s fourth store to open downtown. Atkinson’s other downtown stores include Live Trendy or Die, The Conscious Mercantile and Windblown Apothecary. The 1600 square foot shop will carry specialty beers and used books specializing in fiction.
9th Street Books and Brews will offer a large selection of beer for customers to make their own six packs. The beer selections will come from local breweries and craft beer suppliers such as Bold Rock and Devil’s Backbone. Tastings will be held every Friday and the line up for every other Friday can be found on the store’s website. However, their staff will be knowledgeable in the beer selections and will be able to assist in pairing beers for your six pack.
9th Street Books and Brews will be licensed as ABC-off, so a food menu will not be available. However gourmet food items will be available as for individual sales and food baskets, customized to the customer’s liking, and will begin at $24. The gourmet baskets can be a perfect housewarming gift. Also, a selection of wines, specifically reds, will also be available for tastings and purchases.
The front half of the store will be dedicated to a wide variety of used books. Daily book buybacks and trade ins will be offered with the hopes of specializing the selection in fiction. Atkinson is looking to host the store’s first community book buyback the weekend of March 23rd. Book clubs are able to reserve space on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and will receive 25% off used books for being one of the clubs to use 9th Street Books and Brews space. Incentives will be offered weekly to encourage community members to participate in the trade ins and buybacks to help keep a fresh inventory within the store.
